The only down side I've found is turning radius. Its jumps and fights so bad when making tight turns. Granted it has toggle on the dash to shut the awd off and make it fwd. But I'm afraid if I switch to it to either save gas or to make a tight turn it would be my luck the awd won't turn back on.

I'd be scared it wouldn't turn back on as well and I sure wouldn't want to get out in this weather to fix that lol

Somehow I broke both stub axels in the front of my work truck a few years back so for a while I was leery to use the 4x4. But now I'm back to using it when it will be helpful.

Custom front bumper/skid plate/light mount and call it good. Leave it a beater.

After talking to someone on the Subaru forums, they are telling me its not normal for the car to fight taking sharp turns.

They say that either the front outboard axle or CV joint is bad or the transmission isn't working right. They said to have the axle looked at first cause its obviously the cheaper way to go.

It only effects the turning radius, so I'm not sure I'm going to worry about it right now. Being a beater its not going to get driven once it warms up, I'll go back to driving the Mazda. My budget isn't going to allow me to do any major work on it right now.

I'll just try to avoid making any sharp turns to keep any stress off the components.

Ok to keep with the light weight racecar theme. I wanted to enclose the trunk to help with heat, security, and possibly quite the cabin down a little.

I found rolls of polyester at walmart and bought the biggest size. There are plenty of holes to throw some bolts and nuts to hold it in place, and I make shifted around the back speakers. I also took the left over and laid it down and tucked it under the rear bar so my wife has a place to put her purse so it no longer has to sit on the center console.

I still need to get some velcro and put it along the bottom, This way the bottom can still come up in case we need to put something in the trunk that extends into the back seat area.

Not really, but all i did was back it out of the garage. might look into some cheap dyno mat for the inside trunk area.
