2.0 Duratec VS. 2.3 Duratec

SO what are the differences besides the obvious displacement? Anyone driven both>? HOw do they compare to each other? Fuel economy? Quick? slow? revs nicely? Loud? etc...

I drove an 05 focus sedan with a pzev 2.0 duratec. It had an auto but when I got back into my 2.0 zetec it felt sooooo much better. I only have intake and exhaust so it doesn't add too much. But I guess when the aftermarket picks up for them they will go right by the zetec.

Really ?

Because my GF only has a Marcy CAI installed and the car is an automatic and it has some decent power and torque in the low rpms.
My Zetec actually felt a little less powerfull after driving her car and I have a Volant, Exhaust and SCT...

I'm afraid to add anymore mods to her car because she might beat me in a race. Heck, she might just beat me with the engine as is.

The Duratec just runs and feels smoother IMO and the power accelleration/pull is great.

Now it was only a stock 2.0 duratec... not the 2.3... I know the 2.3 is better with the 153 hp

the 2.0 duratec is the equivalent of the us zetec...that doesnt make ne sense, the duratec has 130hp and 127 lbs of torque, like the 2001 zetec...then again the focus is notorious for having a range of 102 to 115 whp when it comes down to it..maybe she got lucky and you got stiffed.

Duratec is lighter in weight and has higher compression.
And it's just a ZX3 SE with the 2.0L Duratec. My Zetec also has a 5-speed.
Duratec with no PZEV classification has 136hp and 133 ft Lbs @4500rpm.
Little less TQ than a Zetec but a few more ponys than a Zetec.

We Zetec's just need to face it. The Duratec just seems to respond to intake/exhaust mods better because it's so choked up.
Not like the Zetec where the intake and exhaust isn't as restrictive as the Duratec system.

well you have to remember that there are two 2.0 duratec motors available.

One with the zetec comparative 130 hp (PZEV 2.0) and the regullar 2.0 which is supposidly underrated at 136 hp. Both having less TQ then the zetec i believe.

It could also be the fact that MyredZX5 drove an auto (further drivetrain loss) with the PZEV 2.0.

Then with FokuZx3 saying about the variable whp range, the 2.0 duratec may be slower then a zetec (but only on a really bad day).

But i still believe that the duratecs have a better response to mods, so you have to take that into account also. And any duratec is lighter then the zetec engine. the 2.3 is 20 lbs lighter.
