Mk3 Seats in a Mk1?

Has anyone tried to fit MK3 seats into a MK1? Do they fit? Front and/or Rear

I doubt the rear will fit, but I'm hoping that the front will with little to no modification. Fingers crossed.

I have a set of MK3 ST1 front seats available to me that would be a great upgrade for my MK1 hatch.

I dont think i have read about anyone trying. It would be huge if they mounted up with out modification. Really would have to see the bottom frames/mounts to compare. Are you able to test fit before you buy?

Head over with your passenger seat out, center console out of the way and the right torx bits. you'd be able to find out pretty fast

If they do fit without modification, how funny would worn out standard MK1 seats look in a mk3 lol.

It is highly unlikely that the Mk1 SRS module is compatible with Mk3 seat air bags or seat belt buckles, since there is no compatibility between Mk1 and Mk1.5. But go for it, and let us know, and post pics!

well if the mk1 does not have in seat air bags, not a big deal. He should also be able to swap seat belts (assuming they mount similar, no idea) Would be the same principal of switching mk1 seats into a mk1.5 car, just swap over the needed parts.

of course, this is in the unlikely scenario the mk3 seats actually bolt up

I haven't gotten a chance to try this yet. My day has been non-stop, so tired. I'll try in the morning.
