2005 ZX3 and RS Stuff

Hey everyone,
Seeing how I'm still new around here, don't hit me with the ugly stick too hard for asking this....

I have an 05 ZX3 (S model) that I just got the other week (not even 1K miles on it yet).

Seeing how the RS is THE best stock looking focus (see upper right graphic :) ), I want to grab some RS bumpers and lights...and eventually the rims or some other nice rims.....

Also seeing how there was the design change in 05, would the RS stuff even fit my car? I don't know/think if ford changed the fender design, but the lights arent as aggressive (as pointy), so I would assume I would need a hood, the front bumper, and lights that fit a pre 05 focus.

Should I just wait for an aftermarket kit to come out, or should I attempt to continue researching this stuff (I don't plan to buy it RIGHT now...pre planning).

sorry bro, the RS bits will only fit on gen 1 Foci. Wait for it though, someone will probably come up with a version of the RS bumpers for the new ones. Give it a couple years and there will be more body kits than you'll be able to shake a stick at.

Unless there are '05 RS parts, none of the previous RS year parts will work, because all of the front end pieces are differently shaped and will not fit on the '05. I think the same also goes for the bumper (and possibly even side skirts). The Wheels should be fine though

(I'd look to see if there was a '05 RS, but I have to head to class) Good luck.

Cheers!

So the US version of the 05 is considered MK2???

There arent that many changes really that I can see...only the front end design, the motor (duratec 2.0) and interior (dash). The rear, seats, chassis appear to be the same....I figured that stuff could bolt right up.

Now that you mention it, the side skirts, spoiler, and the rear bumper would probably bolt up(you have to trim the crash bar in the back, but us mk1 guys do too), but there is no way the front end will swap. The fenders are different and the lights and grill are different.

Right, but how different??? If I changed the hood, fenders, bumper and lights, should/would it work? Are the fender lips the same from 04 to 05?

you could prolly swap everything out and make it look like a mk1 if you really wanted. The real kicker lies in the radiator support. It ties pretty much everything in the front of the car together, the lights mount on it, hood latches to it, grill bolts to it, yada yada yada. So, unless you want to do some major surgery, you can't make the lights and fenders from the old car hook up to the new car. Aside from that the basic frame is probably the same. The fender line that comes down and follows the outside edge of the headlight will not match up with the old bumpers in any way shape or form. The only way to get an RS front bumper to on your car right now is to glass your own.

Look on www.european-parts.net they have some parts that might be interchangable.
