The 2.0 Skyactiv is pretty sluggish and boring. The 2.5 on the other hand is excellent. Not like driving a racecar, but passing power is absolutely there, even uphill.

If my Focus ever goes downhill, Mazda will be my first stop for a replacement.

Oh I'm sure, but you can't get the 2.5 for less than a $24.5k sticker, and they ain't discounting the 3s much. If they made the 2.5 a $1,000 option in the lower trim levels that would be pretty cool.

Agreed. They are well aware of the value those cars have right now. My fiancÚ has the 2.5 in her CX-5, and we got a good deal on it before they started getting really popular...I told her that she could only get that engine. I'm kicking myself for not getting AWD though. The price jump between the engines is pretty significant.

Now if Mazda were to finally get that diesel over here they've been talking about, especially 2.2L Skyactiv-D, I may just climb out of my Focus before any problems occur.

That would've been my guess too before I read this article. Apparently sales have been way down year-over-year for the past few months and this article blames it on pricing. Seems like Mazda is prevented from discounting due to the cars being built in Japan.

Interesting...CX-5 and 6 are still climbing, but apparently not enough to off set the 3.

Maybe they'll offer the proper incentives now. Or expedite the Diesels. Over on the Mazda forums, I know there are quite a few holding out for them.

Mine is a mazda-3 hatchback with 155hp version skyactive motor and automatic tranny.
I find it to be more than adequate in acceleration but it does not accelerate as ferociously as the Focus did.

Imo, it corners better and rides lower, and feels very solid to me.

I was also pleasantly surprised at how well it does in ice and snow, because we have a vacation condo on a mountainside in ski country.

It seems about on an even par for mileage, at 34.8 overall and I will cruise at 80 if everyone else does too.

I don't even know what to say. Ford is not the least bit interested in a fix or resolution to this problem. If they would buy this junk back for payoff she would buy a manual given they honor the xplan they offered. She likes the car but not the trans., I on the other hand hate everything about it, but the front seats. I'd like to have them for race seats in my truck. Stay tuned!

That's exactly what I tested. Felt very sluggish around town with even worse throttle lag than the Focus. Plus despite being fully loaded (leather, nav, moonroof) it had only 16's with cheapo Yokohama tires. That's the same problem with the new ones. 16's with bad tires unless you spend close to 25k to get 18s. No 17s offered.

I was pretty disappointed, I was going to buy it that night.

You may have said this before, maybe not, but are they not even willing to buy it back at a good deal for them?

That is the one downside to the Slyactiv, even with the 2.5, it has a little lag before it gets going. Not too much low end torque either, but at least the 2.5 is much better at responding than the 2.0.

Even with it being a CUV, the CX-5 is great in the twisties...I would assume the 3 is even better.

They will buy it back but, not at a price that will keep her from being upside down even with the xplan they offered which is a joke, all you have to do is ask for it. If we could get the employee Aplan it might work out.
