I had a 2012 Focus with the DCT and traded for a 2013 with a 5 speed manual and could not be happier.

It not only allowed me to get rid of all the DCT problems but I now feel more connected to the car. It is only a different transmission but it is literally like you are driving a completely different car.

To borrow a phrase from BMW, my Focus now feels like a driving machine.

If you're really going to give Ford another chance after your experience, I'd suggest you "double-down" and wait for 2015 F150. You can then have an aluminum body with an EcoBoost, turbocharged, DI engine. Make sure it has MyFordTouch, too. Unfortunately, a DCT won't be an option.

After all, Ford's engineering is beyond reproach. So what could go wrong? And if something does go wrong, Ford will surely fix it.

I have looked at other cars but I'm a Ford man and another brand dealer would rape me because of the "it's normal" trans. grinding and front end shutter. I was under the impression the Fusion had the same dct. If it's a tc car that'll make for and easy decision. Maybe it's Bluetooth works, I don't like my wife trying to dial and drive.

with tongue planted firmly in cheek....

The aluminum F150 does appear to be a major gamble for Ford. It will be interesting to see how well the 700 pound lighter truck holds up.

The aluminum body and 2.7 L EcoBoost was torture tested at Baja and passed with flying colors. So if you subject it to rough treatment it should be fine.

They disguised the new Truck with the current body shape and ran it in this past year's event.

That may be so. But the same engineering standards also put the DCT on the market in far from ready condition. I hope it works for Ford, but they are taking a lot of "bet-the-company" risks on new technology these days. Alan Mullaly did this every time Boeing launched a new jetliner; whether this works in a product for the masses remains to be seen. The DCT should be a cautionary tale.

All those myford systems probably use the same stuff. Take it on an extended test drive and you'll probably be fine though. Good luck with the fusion. I like the way those look. Great redesign for styling for sure.

Is your drivetrain under warranty?

It has 40k plus. I'm tired of it, all the updates and what have you is just a pain and I only drive it a few times a month. It's the wife's dd.
