The 14.1 STFT1 is a target even if the cold air changes this ( most I have seen does) the ECU can correct the STFT1 to almost 30% so you will still hit your target AF of 14.1 , the MAF in your car can handle the slight added airflow an intake mod does

Your dealer does not know what he is talking about if this is what he told you

He used the example of "the MAF measures air in a parameter that the pcm is calibrated to measure in.. so lets say the MAF is programmed to measure in a 1-10, and say your cold air intake changed the air flow so now the MAF is reading 12-13.. the computer can only handle up to 10 and it doesnt know how tohandle the extra 2-3, so your engine will run lean because it cannot compute how to adjust for that much of change."
The next part is "of course you can reflash the pcm to allow the MAF to handle up to say 15, but then if I checked it for smog it would fail guaranteed."

Anything Voids a Warrently that isn't the stock item. Even a K&N filter, Roush doesn't use a paper filter so they can claim it isn't OEM so it let me material into the engine then design. They can use this and will use this. For the love of god don't be lazy and put your fricking OEM intake on when taking it into Ford. Roush can claim they don't void it. So get Roush to fix your problem then.

I've seen the people at Ford have no clue what going on with a car if it doesn't throw a code, also if it's s smaller Battlefield they're try to screw you over. It sounds like he's being screw. I've seen my friends buy Mustangs and take it in with something obviously wrong with it, but no code no problem. The only things that don't void your warranty is what you also have installed by Ford from Ford inventory. This is if they want to screw you over, granted I can go to my Ford with the same issue as someone else and will get it fixed for pennys. It's also how much they like you!

As far as my problem went.. the issue was an over-oiling of the filter. It came ore oiled but was not labeled as such until I called them to verify everything. CAI works like a dream now!

Another thing I feel I should post here.. if you drive a non-ST Focus that is a PZEV emission model.. the ROUSH cat back is NOT for you.. turns out PZEV has a 2nd Cat and the kit requires it to be cut out.

I am glad to see it got figured out.

As far as them not being able to fix the car without a code, well they just need to get a real auto tech to work on it. How did we EVER fix cars before OBD-II?
