The Recaro seats have quite rigid plastic sub structures keeping the thigh bolsters in place, so I'm not sure carving the foam would really help there, you will likely be better off doing the deal for the ST1/ SE sport/ SEL/Ti seats instead as it would get you the seats from your old car back.

Those wings hold the lower bolster in that aggressive shape on the ST Recaro Seats.

I need to take the time to see what's to narrow. It's more towards my hips that's uncomfortable.

I need to spend a little time in the car first.

I bought the leather Ricarros because I have a bunch of rods in my back and needed the support. I LOVE the seats. I have done one long road trip since buying my ST and couldn't believe that I got there pain free.

With that being said...I'm 5'7 127#, my hubby is 6'1, 210#. He has hardware in his hip (our punishment for being bike junkies), anyway, the seat cushion kills him. He doesn't fit. He uses a foam seat cushion thingy and it works great for him. It's not exactly aesthetically pleasing though but...

Call me confused.
Why would you put $ with an ST3 Recaro to swap for an ST1 cloth seat?

You can try getting on a Jenny Craig diet and see if that helps... JK, I actually test drove a ST with those seats and holyshit my big ass didn't feel comfortable at all. $250 for the swap sounds cheap to me, if you can hold off for a little while longer I'm sure a better deal may come along your way.

I'd take the car or see if you can borrow or rent or whatever on a 100+ mile road trip.

I dunno my seats softened over time and now they are very comfortable. at first they were a bit tight as im a big guy 6'4" 250lbs. Now they are great though, didnt take long for them to form to me.
