I lost power when I put the stock cat on for fitment purposes. It was very quite when the cat was on, was not used to ever being able to hear the intake before.

But now the header is back on and its sounds vicious.

I forgot to add that my car no longer spins tires off the line like it did with the stock exhaust. No exhaust leaks whatsoever in case someone asks, I checked all connections and it idles quieter than the stock unit imo.

Update: Well it appears my response has came back, I guess the computer had to adapt to everything. I spoke to Tom yesterday and will shoot for a tune soon as I know there is more to be had. Since I do not have nowhere near the money for a turbo yet I will just get a race header and a wideband to practice tuning with what I got now. Question though, if I get the 3 bung FSWerks header, which bung do I put the wideband o2 in? That would be good to know.

If your planning on going turbo then I do not recommend buying a header. Honestly if that is your route buy a turbo manifold, turbo, downpipe and oil line for the turbo and run open charge pipes. That is what I did when I had my Lancer when planning on going turbo.

Yeah but it will be a few years before I turbo up and a header really wouldn't offset me that much. Plus I can grasp the concept of tuning and whatnot so when I do go turbo it won't be so foreign to me. This is my first car I owned that can be tuned using a flasher so I am still learning.

I just priced that parts and you could build the hotside for about 700$ for so. Running a open charge pipe system sounds AMAZING and won't really hurt performance. Although it is all up to you. I must say prepare your self for a high pitched pingy sound and being REALLY loud. I do like the HKS exhaust though.

I hope my HKS with 1 long resonator and a second resonator takes care of that. It is a very quiet catback though, close to stock idle if not quieter; only deep when you get on it. And thanks. By the way where are you getting these prices from? I saw an ebay kit for $600 (of course I would toss the included turbo) but when I searched everybody shot it down as no good soon as the OP asked so I just assumed it was not worth it lol.

Use a MazdaSpeed 3 manifold, buy a used turbo or amazon turbo, they are a 3 bolt housing, you can pull them off Audi's, Mazda's, Mitsubishis and many other makes, and use a MazdaSpeed 3 down pipe, might need a little modifying to fit. I know of a guy in my city that has a complete MazdaSpeed 3 set-up on his second gen Focus, top mount intercooler and everything. From what I hear the car is amazing. A couple of my MazdaSpeed friends know of him and say his car is really quick.

Nothing other than replacing the removed cat will get rid of the pingy sound, it is gas hitting the metal on the inside of the header. I think if you ask Crice8 he has a video of his car and he had like 4 mufflers and resonators and it still was pingy.

I forgot your the Fayetteville guy, do you know someone for your inspections? If not having a header will make you fail, they found mine on my Lancer right away and I failed. If you do know a guy, when I move up there can I borrow him because of my tint? :)

Yeah I know a guy, he is one of my oldschool Turbo Mopar contacts/friends (Daytona, Shadow, CSX, etc.). I also used to work at the place; though I don't want to get your hopes up. I also used to be a state inspector myself so I know what to expect. Though if my "person" can't help you the workers at TLC are dumb as rocks lol, they are way easier to get by as they are a car wash and cannot make money of failed vehicles and will only fail you for things like bulbs. They even passed my old 3.3 Dynasty with no cats lol. Though for tint, even out on the road it could be an issue, NC police seems to hate tint more than any type of performance part or noise, this isn't California (at least yet) thank goodness lol. For the header visual inspection would be the only thing I have to worry about though right? The tune should take care of readiness, codes, etc.?
