Suggestions on new tires / rims?

Hey, pretty new to modding out my car, but since I recently got an influx of presents that were to make my car look better (stereo system, body kit, new paint) i thought id trash the stock tires / steelies and get new tires with some decent rims.

Specs:

2000 Ford Focus
Sedan ( :/ i know )

Wants:

Gun-metal shade of rims, like the spoked look somewhat
Fatter tires
Larger tires

Questions:

What all do I need to achieve the wants? Just tires / rims? What size tires / rims can my focus go up to? Should I buy springs? If I buy larger tires, would I still be able to lower it a little?

Hey man. OK, check it out... first off, ain't NOTHING wrong with a sedan. I have one. It rocks. Secondly, before going and throwing that body kit on, yeah, I'd go with a good wheel/tire combination. From your little description there, it sounds like you may really like the Konig Holes. They are available in 17 or 18" sizes. If you go with the 17", go with a 205/45/17 tire (Kumho Ecsta recommended). If you go with the 18", go with a 215/35/18 tire (Toyo FZ4 recommended).

You will soon want to lower the car a bit, though, as adding aftermarket wheels makes your car look like it is sitting a lot higher (the lower profile tire plays tricks on your eyes). Check out www.focussport.com or www.newedgeperformance.com for all of that. A good H&R spring setup and Koni adjustable dampers is a great route to go. Otherwise, I'd highly recommend the H&R Cup Kit.

Hope this helps somewhat. Good luck with your mods!!

How much do you think all your suggestions will burn a hole in my pockets? Or will it burn the pants right off my skin and singe the hair? :b

Yeah, for a decent set of wheels/tires, you should look to spend right around $1k to $1.5k.

I went to the Tire Rack online and they rated the Yokohama AVS EV100 highly.I bought a set and love em. Wide and sticky on my stock 16 inch rims And you can order them for like 75 bucks each there.Tire Racks got all the tires you can think of and comparisons and wheels.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/index.jsp Also plenty of performance tires suck in snow so do mine but they work great in rain and dry.

My estimate includes wheels, tires, drop springs, and new dampers.
