Steering Rack Noise...Problem Solved

Hey I just noticed a noise coming from my steering rack. I first noticed the noise after installing Eibach front and rear sways. Im not 100% sure when the noise first appeared but thats when I first noticed it. The noise is a popping sound only heard when the wheel is moved to the left from 2 o' clock to 12 o' clock. Its heard everytime the wheel goes around to the left which leads me to believe the problem is in the rack rather than the steering arms. Has anyone experienced this same problem or have any idea what it could be. Thanks

my car creaks every now and then, but i'm pretty sure it's comming from teh front sway bar because of all the dust present where i live....my car gets so dusty down here-cant wait till i move back up north at the end of the month...!good luck finding whats wrong, the front end is so crowded on our cars i cant believe it- u might have 2 drop teh front crosmember to get 2 whatever it is..

Tonight I got the Foci on a lift and after playing with the wheel and tuning our hearing we were able to track down where exactly the noise was coming from. Turned out that the plastic case covering the steering column as it exits the firewall going into the engine bay had been jarred loose and was rubbing the steering column as I turned the wheel. So after pushing and pulling on it for a good 15 mins we were able to get it back into the correct position resulting in a pleasant drive home. Thanks for reading. Later

Hi. This post is a bit old but here goes anyway... My Focus has developed a steering noise problem. Could you have a look here and let me know if it was similar to yours?

I sprayed some grease in to the plastic cover from inside the car next to the pedal and it did seem to help a little.
Could you give me some more details on what the sound was like, how did you track it down? Did it look like it was incorrectly fitted etc.
Any help would be much appreciated as it's driving me mad!
