Great Big Exhaust Thread of Everything-Take Two

Well mk3 friends, it's time to hopefully cut down on the almost daily questions about exhausts for the 2012 Ford Focus:

Here we go:

Currently these are the exhaust kits available for the MK3 Ford Focus

FsWerks:
Stealth:

PROS:
I can speak from experience that the stealth is a pretty great exhaust setup, especially for the price. Install could be done by a drunken monkey and fitment is spectacular.

CONS: Unfortunately over time, (at about 8-10k miles) the exhaust noise level changes. This is not per say a true "con" however it is louder and the car does drone under load on the highway. The drone is not un-manageable but it is present.

FsWerks Race: http://www.fswerks.com/collections/e...2013-hatchback

I have recently heard the FsWerks race exhaust at a meet. The sound is pretty intense. Some might call it ricey while others claim it is deep and grumbly. I'll let you decide that. What I can say is that if you do not want something loud and droning this is absolutely not the exhaust for you.

TIP FOR FSWERKS EXHAUST:
The rearmost exhaust hanger on the stealth and race system is designed to shoot the tip out under the rear valance. In my opinion, this looks kind of silly with a big ol pretty tip just flapping out there.... SO... Its time to put on your big girl pants, grab a sharpie and a dremmel tool and get to work. Trace the outermost "body line" on the drivers side of the black plastic valance in a semi circle. What you are doing is creating an exhaust cut out so your tip sits flush. once you have cut this space out, take some sandpaper and go over the mess you've just made of your brand new 20K dollar car. Take a quick trip to your local auto parts store and pick up some black, self adhesive door trim. Cut it to fit and run it around the hole you just cut out. Next, unbolt your last exhaust piece and rotate it upwards so the tip now sits flush with the bottom of your bumper. CONGRATS! youve now made your exhaust look SOOOO much better!!! **the same is true for pretty much every other exhaust kit available**

Magnaflow:

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...rtnumber=15072

I have yet to hear the magnaflow exhaust in person, but I have heard some pretty great things about it. It is the second most expensive of the kits, however it also seems to have the most mellow sound. It also has a slightly smaller pipe I.D than the other kits (2.25 ID)

Here is a great write up of the Magnaflow install

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLMYKmTQaSk

Borla:

http://www.borla.com/products/focus_...t__140454.html

I have yet to speak with or find any indication that anyone actually purchased this kit, but it seems to be very similar to the magnaflow kit.
I can't recommend it or say anything negative about it.

This video seems to be the closest thing to the Borla

Ford Racing Performance Exhaust:

It appears the ford one is almost identical to the Borla and Magnaflow except its shipping weight is 10 pounds lighter.

Here is a great write up:

http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=326506[/QUOTE]

Here's Roush's 3inch cat back. http://www.roushperformance.com/part...haust-Kit.html

I can't speak for the N/A at this time, but I believe a user on here with an ST was so bothered by the drone he plans to remove it

Many have done custom exhausts as well:

THE LUNCHBOX DELETE:
The "lunchbox" or obnoxiously large rear resonator located under the rear valance can be removed to produce zero performance gains, yet increase exhaust sound. I have personally done this and do not recommend it as it sounds rather cheap and PFFFFTTTTT-ey.

Here's Casey's Side exit:

And Mike's custom soon to be available Duel exit:

Here is Ben the Wizard's sweet ST Cat back exhaust

Bill the show car master went a step further with his ST inspired Exhaust in his Stedan
http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/s...=303127&page=6

Here is what I consider a good read explaining exhaust back pressure. 2.25-2.5 ID exhausts seem to be the best bet for our high compression 4cl engines.

Thanks for putting the ball in motion. Hopefully, we can sticky this and avoid 15 exhaust threads a week...lol.

I want exactly that I have the same color sedan. How much would it run with that setup and rear diffuser?
