I'm moving to Newport News..

Just pm'd 5speedZX3 on FJ about joining Focus Rush...
But does anyone know anything about Chesapeake Bay Apartments in Newport News?
I'll be around for a month before I get flown out to the Carl Vinson and should be back in July when the it comes in for refueling. So I'll be around for the following 3 years at least.

Yep, I lived there for 2 years. I think they are way overpriced, thats why I moved. Do you have a wife? If so, and your deployed then its probley worth the $ because they are safe, in a good location, and are in pretty decent shape. If your single then I would look around and find a place that costs less, if your gone 1/2 the time, why pay top dollar. Let me know if you need any info and I will look around. During transfer season its tough to find a decent place around here.

yes I'm married..
However I'll only probably go on 1/2 deployments since I'm going to the Carl Vinson which is on it's way from Bremerton to be refueled and all that good stuff. It's supposed to arrive in Norfolk early July and there it'll sit for the next almost 4 years.
Having two cats is going to be a pain too.. We're going to say only one though b/c you can't tell which one is which Helps that they're both black and have long hair.

when I was on the Nimitz during refueling, I stayed at a small set of apartments on Grossman Place...it was literally 3-5 minutes from the shipyards and rent (at the time) was 350/month for a 2 bedroom. This was in umm....99-2000

I also stayed at the apartments in Hampton across the street from the super walmart, but they were overpriced, trashy, dirty, and the parking lot floods...

Befor i got base housing I lived at Heather Lake apartments in hampton. There right outside Langley AFB gate. It wasnt to bad for what i paid just the matnace and managemnt there sucked.

If your in the navy contact there housing office and they will tell you about the apartments and the area. They also have a set-aside program down here where you can get like 10% off your rent if you sign up with housing. All it takes is you have to use a allotment to pay rent.

Okay Chesapeake is too expensive with pets! over 1000 in fees to get in! Does anyone know anything about these places? The neighborhoods etc. how nice they are for apartments? IN NN Waterman's Crossing, Arboretum Place, in Hampton Bridgeport or Brigport on the lake (we went to look at this one not sure about it) or Hampton Center?
