Nitto Or Yokohama?
I am upgrading my rims on my focus to 18 inch G-Racing Nagano's and I am asking which tire is better Nitto 555 or yokohama Z-spec's?
I am looking for a good ZR or Z speed tire that is going to give good traction off the line. |

last yr i tested nitto's yoko's and bfg's....even the g-force handles better that the 555's on dry ground, and the 555's like to screem...loud tire...as for what tire of the dunlop and bfg...take a look...maybe you might like some scorchers.

I run Dunlop w-10's, a pretty pricey 215/40zr-17 tire at 175 a pop. They wore out REALLY quick, not only that, but when i rotated, the rear's were starting to dry rot and crack and were out of round and very loud. Next set of tires I get will be some kumho exstacy's, cheap, and a good tire. If you're willing to break the bank for some really nice tires, you can not go wrong with a set of pirellis. I also had a really really expensive set of goodyears on my old v8 thunderbird, those were awesome tires.

I had firestone firehawk ss20's on my 92 cougar and I love them, but they don't make them in 17 or 18 inch format at all. Wish I could find some firehawks even.

If you are looking for off the line grip, get a tire w/ a low UTQG (uniform tire quality grade). The lower the number the softer the rubber, hence better dry grip. However you'll lose wet weather traction w/ the lower numbers.
BFG G-Forces rock. The KDW will give outstanding handling and pretty god wet traction. A Kumho MX or Pirelli Pzero Nero will have great dry responce, but average (for performance) wet traction. Nittos can't really compare, in their price range go for the Kumho 712 instead. The AVS ES100 is still reletively new, popular due to great pricing and good performance. If money isn't an object, Goodyear Eagle GS-D3. I forget if they are made in a 215-35-18 though.. |
