Waynestowels leather cleaner/conditioner results

After a week of aplication i thought i would share my thoughts. I am in no way a expert on leather nor do claim to be. This is my first set of seat in leather but Im learning. I did a side by side comparison with the sampel wayne sent me and Meguires leather conditiononer and tanning preserve cleaner as recomended by a local detailer. here are my thoughts

Waynestowels cleaner/conditioner. Very diffrant than the other brand, its a think liquid that can be applied where and how much you want that is very handy in my book. compared to the other brand that you spray on the leather and could get anywere and every where. I split the seats down the middle the passenger side way the other brands and drivers was waynestowels sample. I used it on the driver seat due to the more abuse i give to it (im a autobody mechanic and im real dirty after work). I was a little more hopeful on the waynestowels cleaning ability that what i saw compared to the tanners presurve. It did ok with the top layer of dirt but some of the stuff deep in the grain was hard to get off. So for that part im going to say tanners presrve won the toss but it also got overspray all over some of the plasit trim witch had to be cleaned again. I do like that the wayenstowels brand doesnt stain the center cloth section of the seat, i tested a spot in the back seat with both and there was no color change in the cloth, but the other brands did have a minor change not noticable unless you were looking for it. This is great for those of us who have SVT seats with cloth centers.

Condtioning test. The meguiars brand leave a greasy residue on the seats and a smell that wont go away unless the car airs out. Other than that it seams to do quite well but not as well as the waynestowels brand witch left no residue or odor. They both left the leather in a semi gloss finish witch looks real nice however because of the meguires residue ill stick with waynestowels brand for conditioning.

But like i said befor im no expert in leather and these are the only products i have tried. If the waynestowels brand had a little better cleaning side and was competivly priced I would go with it. Its still in R&D so mabey the final product will be better on that end without sacrificing conditioning aspects.

Update- I have sent the results to wayne and he was very pleased, The sample he sent only has a mild cleaner and is supost to be better for conditioning, the cleaner in the sample is just to help maintain a healthy look.

Good write-up Brian! I have the same seats as you so your thoughts are very applicable to my situation as far as concern about careful application of product and staining possibility of the cloth inserts.

I think I would be more interested in the conditioning/care of the leather than its resisting real grit and dirtiness, because my seats tend not to be exposed to that the way yours are.

Wayne, lemme know when you release this stuff, I would like to get my seats all happy and protected before the evil summer sun attacks the black leather! Haha, so you've got a while...

"Hopefully" by summer or even spring Iitwill be ready:)
I plan to only have a limited amount to start with to see how well it sells..., but I think this one will be good enough to carry the Waynestowels name brand..., we are Very happy with the results:)

Ya my seats get used offten, from work trips to the garage to help some one with mods or maitnace, to trips to the junk yard. All that can make things tought to clean but i try to stay up on it. And i think that red inserts would show more than the blue just because of the lighter color so thats why i checked "stainablity" of the cleaner/condtioner.

I would deffitly use it as a condtioner and use the tanners preserve to clean my well used seats, but for leather that isnt exposed to heavy traffic or dirt and grim it would work well for light cleaning.

if you dont like the sray cap for the tanners reserve, why dont you just unscrew the cap and then put a clean cloth over the top of the bottle and tip the bottle over. That way, you only get cleaner on the areas you want.
