It is torque converter that has been made to have a higher stall speed than stock.

Instead of leaving off the line at 1800 rpm or so, you leave higher in the engine's powerband like 3500 rpm for a street-strip car.

This guy knows his stuff^

Stalls are fun to cruise with too. When your driving and you punch it if your stall is a 3500 your car will free rev to 3500 then take off. Kinda hard to explain but you can look it up on YouTube.

If your not going boost above 8-10 psi or staying NA then a good tune with the trans functions properly set will be all you need , I have a VERY nice Trans tune for the ATX Focus

Lentech is the place to go they built me the first Focus ATX and it went in my 2000 Focus and help 723HP to the wheels , had trans brake , 1800 stall , LSD and much much more and I loved it tracked the 1/4 at 10.95 @ 137 MPH full body Focus , there is no better trans on the market and worth every penny

I wouldnt go above a 1800 stall on the Focus anything above that for the street/track would be not friendly

Just because you have a 3500 stall does not mean the car isnt going to move till you get to 3500 , I have seen 4000 stalls move the cars at 1500rpm its all in how tight the converter is set , TQ the engine is making , gear ratio etc

You DO NOT have a 4500 stall, you would not even start rolling until nearly 3700 RPM's, let alone really move till 4200 RPM's.

True-ish, you really need to be up into the 3500 RPM range to actually move much, if your moving before that than your true stall speed is much lower. Generally you can creep till near your stall speed, then your RPM's will jump to the stall speed and stay above it unless you dropped under your stall speed, then you would feel nearly like your in neutral.

Source, driven two stalled cars.

You can HEAR my stall in this video, it kicks in around 3000K RPM's or 25 mph.

There are "loose" and "tight" converters. A nicely built tight converter migjt flash stall at 4000 but feel like a mild 2500 converter cruising around at part throttle. Poorly built/restalled converters will be looser, you will have lots of slip even with light load.

I need to get a 3500 for my th400, the new motor really starts to come alive at 3000. With street tires, it doesn't matter anyhow.
