ELMconfig with American MKII

Hello to all who check this thread. I have been looking into playing with the ECU in my 2008 SES and ran across this program called ELMconfig. It was originally Russian but was translated into English after it picked up more interest. I have plugged in my old adapter than came off the slowboat and was able to read data off of the Low speed CANbus but have not modified it to read/write the High side yet. I have found no mention of this program being used on American Foci, specifically the MKII. Does anybody know if the 2.0 used in the American version is drastically different from the one used in its European counterpart? I would like to see if anybody has any experience, warnings or input before I consider doing something that could potentially brick my car.....

Also I found options within the software for PCM and octane settings...... I wonder what those could do.

Link to a forum post that describes general setup and has download links for the software:

Thanks,

DJ

You'd do best talking to TOM, but I would guess it may work, although the American and European versions differ immensely.

I'd pass on that. Why would you go w/ that? Your over here=usa, no the uk. Go w/ TurboTom or Fwerks or CFM or Steeda. What if they flake out on you then what? Those programs from sct load up pretty fast, for your car.

I agree with felix, there is simply too many GREAT tuner's here in the US that would know your car 100 times better then an out of country person would. We have arguably one of the best Focus tuner's on this site!

If you want to do your own tuning I would look into the SCT Pro Racer Package , this will give you everything you need to fully tune your Focus or for 399.00 and 20.00 for shipping I can do your tuning for you , full custom tune , free tune updates as you add more mods and my datalogging services

Your in Charlotte and I am located in Belmont NC so were close

Tom

One big consideration is that a 2008 Focus in most countries outside of the US is using a speed density based control system. The US Focus is MAF based. The processor itself is also physically different.

Hey, I see you have a HUGE rep on here, and are very close to me. Do you happen to work at CFM?
