I have full 3 inch exhaust (Borla) with 3 inch ORP no resonators, it sounds awesome just way too LOUD.

If your going to go ORP I recommend you get a resonator if not a fan of loud.

My other SVT has a True Borla 2.5" catback with the resonator, Stock Cat. Car sounds amazing its quit but has a rumble to it definitely recommend borla

I can get you a video of the 2.5 borla if you'd like
As for the 3 Inch borla my timing belt tensioner went so yeah.

I wouldnt go larger than a 2.5". N/A Cars require some back-pressure on the exhaust to perform at the fullest, so going to a 3" setup will actually reduce performance to some extent. The FSWERKS Stealth exhaut is the common choice, mostly because it sounds fantastic and is very high quality.

cool thanks for the info guys. i dont really want something to loud because this is my daily driver.. i do like the way the Stealth exhaust sounds. I am hopefully going to put a JRSC kit on here also as i have the full kit laying around and cannot get a buyer for it.

I have a Jay Racing HFC with 2.5" Borla exhaust, the one with the resonator and muffler. It's loud when you want it to be and relatively quiet when you are cruising. Passes the wife test as well! Click the image below for the video:

We have all heard that for years, but nobody can back it.
Bottom line; less restriction=more power, bring me a dyno sheets that shows different.

The noise and the price is why I would go smaller if you have nothing but bolts on parts and need to drive it everyday. Not to mention there are more 2.5" quality exhaust to choose from, I have an FSWERK on my zx3, which as long as you upgrade from that tiny restrictive factory setup you will be happy.

Agreed, somewhere there are dyno sheets proving that a 3" exhaust will give a gain not a loss, though this is on the SVT not the regular zetec. Majority of all builds should use a 2.5" unless your going for all out power which most say they are but in reality it's just a daily driver not a race car so no need.

I have the Borla system. Absolutely love it! Much less bumble bee-ish than the magnaflow. Mellow during idle/normal driving, throaty (for a 4 banger) when on the hammer.
