best is about a mid 15. I know a few magazines turned 15.6s out of it. you MIGHT be able to shave a tenth or two off that if you can drive you ass off, but don't expect much better than that

it all comes down to the driver. Jessica and I went out to our local track and the first and only time I ran it I was put up against a stock GT. I had him beat in the 1/8th and we were neck and neck almost all the way down and then he pulled about half a car in front of my by the end. I was thinking "sweet, maybe I ran a low 15". No such luck, I pulled a 16.5 and he ran a 16.2

Bone stock I have gotten more 15.2-15.3 then I can count, few 15.1x and 15.0x...best are 14.97@96 and 14.89@97. Think the second run I pulled was a 15.2x.
But I run at Atco Raceway in south Jersey, literaly one of the best tracks in the country when it comes to air density and humidity on a good day. Track is like 16feet over sealevel. Can't wait too see what I pull off with the new clutch assembly!

Yeah, I don't put a lot of faith in the numbers that mag's print. For instance, if you look at the fuel economy rating they are giving the SVTF on that Road and Track article, it says 21 city, 24 hwy. That is BS, I was getting 32 to 33 MPG at 75 and 80 on my trip to Corpus Christi over the Christmas Holidays and I get about 23 in city driving. I believe this is true for 1/4 mile and 0 to 60 times as well. There are just too many factors that come into play, depending on where you live (elevation?), ambient temps, fuel quality can even be a factor if I'm not mistaken. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that is true.

The biggest issue I had...was how much gas was in the car.
On a half a tank, I couldnt get better then a 15.5 with a few low 16s all night long.. I went the following week and got a few 15.2 and the 14.97 the next week, with less then a quarter tank in it. But yeah, magazine #s are a bit off, Im pretty sure that SVT listed it at 15 flat IIRC, which is prolly corrected and with a very savy driver... (not trying to brag that I am a good driver btw, so dont butcher me. )

I remember reading in most magazines that 0-60 times hover around 7.4 - 7.8 seconds, and the quarter from 15.4 - 15.8. I also remember test driving the svtf for the first time, and was really suprised at how quick it felt off the line (maybe I was too used to my 2001 focus zx3 4-spd auto, but I've also borrowed a wrx for a weekend, so I should know the diffy-do). I remember thinking, " there's no way that my car takes 7 and a half seconds to get to 60! My car seems quicker than that!" Wasn't too sure about the 1/4mi. times tho, bc that's a bit harder to judge on a freeway (for all you non-californians, that's interstate).
The second issue of Focus Fanatic confirmed my suspicions: 0-60: 7.14 sec., and 1/4mi: 15.38! Now the disclaimer: I'm not sure if I could duplicate those times in my bone-stock svtf, it just seems to me that the car is capable of quicker times than most mags give it credit for... 2centsworth... |
