need a little more acceleration any tips?

On my 2000 se I've had to replace clutch starter shift cables thermostat housing hoses all within a month just wondering why it feels like its being choked under heavy acceleration it does burn tires going in 2nd gear nothing special my Nissan use to do it shifting around 4ooo rpm before motor swap added new intake cus all the ones I saw had the rusty bolt too keep u from changing filter how can I get a little more accel? Not really trying to spend a whole lot or I would jus go with a svt motor. Thanks

Header, 2.5" exhaust, intake, adjustable cam gears(dyno tuned), and a Tune by Tom.

You will notice the difference.

First do a compression test to see if it's a good idea to mod it. It may just be normal-slow, but it may be you are talking about worn-motor-slow.

General Maintenance is always #1

Fuel Filter, clean air filter, Synthetic oil, motor mounts, plugs and wires, Compression Check, Valve Gasket if you see any oil leaks

The Choking sounds like it could be a fuel filter, Mine did it after my Volant and a new filter took care of it.
After that pretty much what they said
Cold air intake
TB
Milled head to 10.5-1
SVT Header Conversion
Exhaust
Tom's Tune with a wideband o2
Stage 2 cams if you get the money and time.
SVT or Dynamic Suspension

Sorry to say there is no direct thing that will give you a huge boost. All these things work together. The focus is designed to be a slow car but the engine has a lot of potential so you have to pay to play. But really a 1000$ dollars these days for a fun car that ill last a few years is nothing compared to people paying 6000$ a year for a lease.

You now have a wicked ride

I know mine is:

And actually with my new gearing and RPM math says it's a 200mph zetec. Kinda want to see if the rollers will go that fast.
