She have the police a fake insurance card so she never go ticketed for no insurance.

She works an under the table job, so she has no income the state is aware of that I can garnish.

She is on state aid so even if I did sue her and she had a tax paying job they wouldn't allow me to garnish her wages.

I'm just fu$&ed no matter what.

So no I did not. I got a lawyer and he said in all honesty it'd be waste of my money to pay him to do anything because we won't get anything. On top of that he said I could atleadt file on my own and id win but I'd never see a cent. More than likely they'd just file bankruptcy or it just wouldn't matter even if they didn't.

Did the police arrest her for driving without insurance?

I know it might cost money, but personally, id press charges just for the pricipal of the issue.

Also, if you can prove that she has a job working under the table, then you should have a solid case.

In Wisconsin you just get a ticket for driving without insurance.

She gave the officer an invalid insurance card. The card appeared legit therefore she wasn't ticketed.

Also in Wisconsin, if you are on state aid they will not garnish your wages. Which she is on state aid.

I am going to still file eventually because I'll win. I just won't keep my hopes up of ever reviewing a dime.

All I had was liability and it was old enough a policy to not include "uninsured drivers insurance"

Bring a suit, get a judgment, and put it in your safety deposit box. A judgment, in many jurisdictions, is good for twenty years. If she wins the lottery, inherits money, or wins a judgment of her own, then you will have a claim on what she has.

I'm fine now. Everything is healed up.

I was out of work for quite a while.

Wracked up a ton of bills.

Similar here in CA, however if there is an accident involved, you can be jailed for not having proper insurance at the time of the incident. You may not be taken in the day of the incident, however if the case does go to court, and you lose, and you are unable to pay for the damages+ fees, you go to jail.

Agreed on the judgement too.

Here in Canada the stickers you put on your plates are what tell you if you have insurance. So if people drive without it the police know about it instantly and can pull you over for it. If you get caught, it will go on your criminal record depending on if you just blatently drove without insurance or if you forgot. Americans may not like how we do it because it affects your freedom or whatever, but I am very thankful for it. Hell, I even pay the extra $25 a year for increased protection against under insured drivers.
