Bung size for an EGR weld-on a SVT header?
I am looking at doing some better looking modifications to my SVT header.
I am going to be shaving off the heat shield stubs, weld in an O2 bung at the collector for a wideband O2 sensor and also will be having a local shop ceramic coat it with NIC Ceramic coating. I want/need to have EGR function (at times) and right now I have just a 2-3" 1/2" OD tube welded on which I then have to sleeve to hook up EGR. Does any one know what the thread or Bung size is needed for the stock EGR to thread on? Any good "clean" way to transition from the Bung to the EGR threads (like a flexible pipe section that can handle exhaust temps)? Thanks! Edit: Thought it might be worth mentioning I am taking this along with a Bung for Oil return for the oil pan for a future turbo to a welder to MIG/TIG weld everything up and would like to do it all at once (and obviously before ceramic coating). So I want to buy / find a bung so he can get this welded all at once.. (better cost having him do it all at once). Just thought of this, should I go to a pick and pull and just get a stock manifold and cut off the "stock" bung?

Should I just get a standard O2 bung that's a 18mm x 1.5mm... and then worry about threading sizes later? If its different?
Has no one else put a fitting on the SVT header to accommodate the EGR? If not a bung, then what,... if at all? Would like to order this so I can get it welded on sometime next week.

Did you ever figure out what the bung size is? The best I've been able to find is that its a metric size m22x1.5 thread, but i can't seem to find a bung that size anywhere. Also were you able to use the stock EGR tube?

I can find the part number in a bit... I did find it, I think I have the part number in my build thread (URL in my signature). It is M22x1.5 and the part I found is a coupler from an industrial equipment. My plan is to cur off the one end. But it has the flair and the right thread pitch and count. You should be able to see in my build thread my mock up of the EGR pipe.

Its not an easy thing to find, there's tons of o2 bungs out there but nothing foe the egr. My stock tube has an adapter piece like the one above minus the flair on one side.
![]() I might end up cut one side off and just welding that to my header. |

That is my plan. I have not had time to grind it off yet, but plans are to get it welded on, along with some other patch work, and then sent over for some satin black ceramic coating.
Thanks for posting that up skypilot. The trick was also finding something that can be welded. The image that MattDzx3 has looks like it may be brass or copper. Not sure how that would weld to a stainless steel header. The part number I have is a zinc plated steel. So should weld up fairly easy.

Very interested to see if that Parker piece works for you. I am in need of the union that connects the EGR tube to the cat.

This place...
http://www.adaptall.com/products/carbonsteel/9236.html ...seems to have a lot of adapters. 9236-22-22 would be the correct size then to connect the tube to bung? I'm going to put a call into these guys tomorrow.
