Have you placed a piece of vinyl that close to the tail pipe on a focus? I am sure vinyl decals that are placed on hoods endure a lot more heat than the tail pipe. (i.e. Sun temp plus engine temp) Don't get me wrong, the tail pipe does get hot but not enough to effect the vinyl. I have never seen these decals discolor or melt due to heat.

Also, if you put it around the tailpipe cutout area of the bumper, it will melt for sure.

as for it melting....again my tail pipe is not that close the the rear bumper....if it were and it did raise to a melting temperature....my rear bumper in the section over time would too warp and discolor, and I've yet to see a stock focus have this problem unless you are running a ridiculously oversize 4 inch exhaust tip just brushing the bumper or the euro tilt up tip

I think I'll be ok in the melt department

Hillyard had the right idea with that photo shop pic, but it would be a bit wider to encorporate past the tail pipe and the other side of the bumper

right shape..but just bit more stretched across the width of the bumper

thanks Hill

yep that's it

like all ideas, someone's done it first....oops ya know what....do to my cruddy quality PC screen here at the office I thought that was an actual application, and not a photoshoped in piece, still looks good to me though... :)

places I called round to, don't offer a matte black vinyl graphic, and I don't want gloss black, so if I do do this, I'll apply the gloss black graphic, trim it up, and say it with a matt finish black paint, hopefully making it less graphic looking and more a part of the car
