Yeah but a 4" wide black rectangle doesnt mimick the SVT rear grill, since that grill extends almost the entire width of the bumper, including the exhaust cutout. I dont think there's a way to use vinyl to achieve that look without making it look cheap and home-made.

for the 20 bux it will cost me total, I'm not worried if it doesn't look good and I simply peel it off and go on with my daily grind

all I can say is I'll see what it looks like

also...not just slapping on a rectangular piece of vinyl on, the piece would mimic the exact shape and length that the SVT blacked out section has

as for it melting....again my tail pipe is not that close the the rear bumper....if it were and it did raise to a melting temperature....my rear bumper in the section over time would too warp and discolor, and I've yet to see a stock focus have this problem unless you are running a ridiculously oversize 4 inch exhaust tip just brushing the bumper or the euro tilt up tip

I think I'll be ok in the melt department

Well the SVT rear grill is wider than 4" so maybe you made a mistake in your previous post. But also note that the SVT grill has a pattern matching the front grill, giving it a texture. A plain black section may look out of place with no detail in it.

Remember that a thin layer of vinyl will melt with a lot less heat than it takes to discolor a bumper with paint and clearcoat applied to it. The tip doesnt need to be touching the bumper, it just has to be close enough to radiate the heat out.. and yes, the tailpipe gets quite hot. Just be cautious when you do it and keep an eye on it.

yeah....I did mean that...sorry for the confusion

as for the texture...I know the rear is textured to match the front...and I'm really banking on the dark color of the mineral grey to blend it and not make it an eye popping notice, but rather a subtle look

i'll post once I do it...or time frame on when though

Jim
