Looking at the Crane 3. Moving stuff outta old man's barn. Gonna have some more stuff for sale (a very nice bosal, stock cat and header, some MAFs etc etc).

Cleaning out the donor car and will possibly get into interior teardown in the yellow one...

Well i wanted to take a few hours here on new year's day off to get some stuff thrown away, cleaned out, moved into shed, gettin ready for sale, and then take some interior out of the yellow car...

day6 - Filling her up with stuff. That engine hoist will be in action 1st Saturday in January to finally pull old motor and transmission.

day6 - Where the front seats were. Bolts came out surprisingly easy despite having never been out before.

day6 - The same could not be said on some back here despite fact that all had been out at one point years ago.

day6 - Snapped...

day6 - It's mate on the other side as well.

day6 - The evidence.

day6 - 1 of my Torx 50 didnt survive either.

day6 - Gettin empty back here...

day6 - Took a long time to find 1 of these consoles, an easy pull.

day6 - I found my ford racing short shifter my father repaired after it snapped at the slide ring. he tig welded it back flush better than it was made.

day6 - The Limited slip diff will be a great mod but i do not think any mod on this car will beat this for what it is and how rare they are. It was possibly the last one imported into the country (thanks Tony D.). You old dogs will know.

day6 - Closer look where you have to cut out the bottom for clearance with a short shifter.

day6 - Lotta stuff goin on here. VTurbo likely getting an ECU tune later this winter.

day6 - she's getting easier to push around the driveway. also cleaned out grey car of previous owner's stuff in back.

day6 - Not exactly taxidermy but i look forward to the day it gets cleaned up and reinstalled.

day6 - But for now she is taped together til i find a carport garage since one i ordered sears screwed up, then she can be left apart and protected. Cya next time. -R

Fenders will be repainted, potentially replaced if i find a deal on those glass fenders. Hood and bumper will not be part of the completed project.

Thank you nonetheless.

Zetec and MTX75 Removal Day.

Temperature= Damn cold.

Let another day of madness begin...

My only source of relief as it is damn cold outside and not much better in the garage.

My record of evidence.

Glad i didnt lower the car some more a ways back.

Actually felt bad at this point as if the old motor was looking down the barrel of a gun.

It was then that help arrived.

Working on the chain gang.

The other member of said gang.

Lotta 18mm on 1/2in ratchets going here.

I actually found this amusing.

Just about ready.

Doh! I undid the cables a ways back but forgot to unsnap these, a minor inconvenience.

She is free! With that a problem. My hoist was down due to a likely combination of low on fluid and the bitter cold though the propane by now was helping.

No bueno indeed. So people have asked in past can they take a motor out of a focus without a lift and even without a hoist. The answer...

...Yes.

Oh yes indeed.

She never did lay down on me in her career, may she rest in peace.

It frustrated him more than me for sure.

Well slid her out and took a look as never before.

More looking.

Have to be wired a certain way to be intrigued by these machines.

Well the newly cleared 'Chesapeake' Bay.

Gonna be a long while in here. "Gonna keep it yellow?" he asked. I'm not sure. Yellow or black are the only choices.

Still wish that crash bar wasnt welded but bolted.

Only now as i load this pic did i just think 'A V8 couldve gone in there.'

Dad thought he's snap a pic or two as well.

Yeh he did. I really wanted to have a look at the clutch then next moment not so much.

Just about to split.

Houston we have good separation.

I will clean her up and hopefully find her a good home.

Oh what a mystery lie beneath these walls.

Better left to continue wondering how well/bad she was worked.

Even just a quick blast of cleaner off it showed how great a shape it was in. Very likely candidate for to go to Terry's for a project.

Forgot how much warmer it got in the garage.

Hey check that out it's lunch time. Headin' in for now.

Stay warm everyone. -R

Part deux

Now benefit from the heat to get some interior out.

Driver's side panel tabs didnt play nice, all the adhesive pads stayed on the sheet metal. Oh well, not a huge deal.

On to the dash for the dash.

Bezel and all its funny plugs

La radio, never attempt without horseshoe tongs.

Lotta holes appearing.

Now onto the cluster.

For that gotta work up from the bottom.

Had to get out and stretch so went back and work on passenger kick panel.

Now that wasnt so bad.

Piling up back there.

This one threw me for a loop. Mainly because the repair manual has the cover just cilpped in, these were bolted via a frame to the airbag. Annoying but not a horrible fix.

Connector fell apart as i was pulling it out. Surprisingly been doing well on connectors today.

Here she comes, one silly plug that went thru a couple holes and she's out.

Honestly cannot believe i got the engine, the transmission, and this out in the same work day.

All naked in here.

Lotta work in here to come.

To finish for the day, i pulled the ECU. Noticed some moisture on the floor pan but i did hurt the cowl when pulling the harness and all the seals are tired.
Not alarmed, but i've had my fill for the day.

Stay tuned.
