When did you do the first oil change ?

I have heard conflicting opinions on "first ever oil change"
Curious what people here have to say about mileage

I changed the filter at 1200 km and changed the oil/ filter at 4000. Not comfortable with leaving oil and filter on an engine that is breaking in for 8000km. But thats just my take on it.

First one @ 2,000 then @ 5,000 and every 5,000 now at 59,000 and looks like brand new. All other fluids every 30,000.

Well from I'm what I understand about metal and engines, I personally would not change oil till 10k. Might not even do more than add a little fresh, San quality of course, and change filter. Main reason being it's fresh metal an still has yet to become, somewhat saturated with oil during heating(expansion) and cooling(contraction) of the car. So I would probably do my first real oil change at about 15-16xxx

I don't buy the "saturated with oil" bit, but even if that's the case you're saying the components can't get "saturated" with fresh oil? And of course, going 15-16k before the first change could invalidate your warranty.

Do what ?

" it's fresh metal an still has yet to become, somewhat saturated with oil during heating(expansion) and cooling(contraction) "

Its as saturated as it is ever going to get when the engine was first started and ran for 15 seconds , oil doesnt soak into the metal or engine parts

Because there engine are direct injection and how bad they are gumming up the intake ports and the amount of oil in the intakes its best to change the oil at 3000 to 3300 or thats what I am going to do anyway

Another thing Ford is doing if you cannot prove you have done PROPER QUALIFIED maintenance they can void your warranty so make sure your have whats needed for maintenance for your warranty
