Buying an SVT with no service records - as is

I've found a 2003 5 door SVT at my local dealer and I am very interested in buying it and using it for autocross.

I have looked at the car and it is rough around the edges, there is rust on the rear hatch, a crack in the front bumper, shattered passenger fog light and the brakes are essentially seized on. The odometer shows 215,000km or 133,000mi and it is being sold as is with no maintenance records for $1995.

My questions are two: Is this a fair price and what would I immediately want to service/replace.

Thanks in advance.

Its not a bad price being a dealership, I'd try and talk them down some saying you have to repair the brakes and fog light etc. With no maintenance records first things first would be timing belt, water pump, coolant flush, plugs, wires, air filter, oil change, trans oil change, and the brakes. Somebody else may chime in with more, but that should get you started. From the pics it don't look to bad.

That's not a bad price at all. You've got some guy on here trying to sell a wrecked nonSVT car with seized engine for 4500....

You can pick up new calipers (used) for a couple hundred $$. You know which brakes r bad??

Thanks that is in the ballpark of what I was expecting. I'm going to throw them a low ball offer and see what they say.

I'm not sure if any of the calipers have seized or the rotors have just rust welded to the pads.

Not a bad price i think. but really depends on condition. Take it to a mechanic and have them check it out.

You will want to do:

-new timing belt
-check the thermostat housing for leaks
-check the clutch master cylinder for leaks (is the clutch pedal wet?)
-other basic checkup for wear & tear.

Parts for the SVT can sometimes be difficult to find, but nothing is really super-expensive to replace. So long as the engine is in good running shape, you should be good to go.

The same dealer has an 05 ST with over 200k miles. looks like they even give you an extra set of tires in the back seat, lol
