Just replaced my factory tires (17" conti's)

Just replaced the factory tires at the 42k mile mark. They were the "all season" 17' conti's. Not very good tires.
Wanted to wait a little longer but the other day my tire pressure sensor came on. Found a golf ball sized knot in the left rear tire.

I live in Florida so I don't need all weather tires, just ones that are good in rain.

Went with Firestone affinity touring. They are rated for 70,000 miles and reviews say they are known for even wear. They also had to fix some severe camber/alignment issues. Likely due to the collision I had a while back with a concrete mailbox.

So far so good. I haven't been on them long enough to rate them but for the price I think I made out pretty good.

Anyway just thought i'd share for anyone nearing the end of their oem tire lifespan might want to look into these tires.

Procontacts? I thought those were a decent tire.

horrible treadlife. I never dry steer and don't have a lead foot so I was expecting a longer life from them. Also had them rotated every oil change.
Traction was subpar, I have an SEL so it doesn't have handling package but I can feel an immediate difference in handling with these new tires.

Thanks for posting this. I was actually wondering just the other day how many miles I should expect from my oem tires.

42k isn't awful for treadlife. I ditched my 16" Conti Procontacts within the first 1000 miles and switched over to 17" Conti DWS and the diff in dry handling was night and day.
Had 'em since July of '12 and have 14,000 miles on 'em and no complaints except they still aren't really made for deeper snow.

42k not awful but not good either. Honestly the treads were at replacement level at about 36k. Just didn't have the funds at that time to get new ones.

I ended up replacing my oem 16"conti's at 40k miles as they got extremely loud at low speeds and they were wearing thin on the tread. Ended up replacing them with a set of Goodyear Assurance Tripletread 80k mile tire. Would have gone with the conti DWS(had them on my last car and loved them but with the 160 rebate for the goodyears and $80 off for my goodyear associate discount couldn't pass up 4 brand new 80k mile tires for $340 installed!!!!!

The DWS would be my clear choice as well.

How would you rate the tire/road noise?
