Yea it definitely is akward at first. It Kind of reminds me of the ride in my moms 99 dodge caravan (If you have one or something similar try it. I'm 5'9" so the seats aren't too bad for me even with the sunroof option... I would have thought this was one of the other selling points of the Foci, the nice upright seating position but then again I'm not really tall so I guess it could be a problem. I wonder what the seatings like in the WRC focus ?

Your question probably wasnt serious, but......In WRC cars they mount the seats as low as possible(especially the co-driver) to keep the CoG as low as possible. The seat rails are also usually part of the cage. You wouldnt want the seat in your road Focus that low because you'd lose a lot of rear visibility.

:) I was very serious about lowering the seat, I don't want it mounted as low as the co-driver in the WRC Focus, I wouldnt mind reclaiming an inch or three from the bracket design department.
I would, however, like the floorboard mounted horn and the carbon fibre car diagnosis center panel from the Focus WRC, but I think that is getting a bit off topic. |

Well you could be like and old person and get the really big rear view mirror to clear up that visibility problem, or grow a few inches...

im not so sure if lowering the seats would be that great of an idea. for one, the rearview mirror is already mounted in an odd place...at least i think....i see more road than cars behind me and if i try to move it to seefurther behind me the top of the rear window cuts it off. but thats not a big problem...thats what the side mirrors are for. the main problem i think is the sterring wheel. it doesnt tilt down far enough. if you lower the seats it will probably feeel like your driving a bus. i like my steering wheel a good 2 inches tops off my lap when im driving but the focus doesnt come close....had to get used to that which sucked but oh well. ive often tried to think of a way to make the seats feel a little better and one thing i came up with is put somthing under the front mounts of the seats such as washers or somthing the raise the front of the seats. i feel like im leaning forward when i sit in my car. so if my butt is lower than my legs ill feel a little better....most definatly would make the passenger seat feel better....feels like a slide to me, ill try to think of a way to lower it without having to do too much modding...ill have to take a look tomorrow or sometime this week.
