Muffler didnt fit...

ok so i go down to Autopride which is a place to get mufflers, stereos, and shit like that.. I buy a performence muffler, go down to a place to install it and it wont fit under my 2000 ford focus ZX3, i was like wtf! i mean they cut my stock muffler off at the ass end, and the stock pipe is like in the middle of the car so the only way i could put the muffler on is to put it sideways and cut pieces out of my car i was like screw that... so i hade to get a peice of pipe and they bent it to stretch over to wear the muffler tip would have stuck out and they put a Resinated tip that goes out to a 3 inch, so now i have a peace of pipe and a 3 inch chrome resinated tip stickin out.. it sounds pretty good accually, but its not a muffler.. can someone tell me why that muffler didnt fit? any help would be appreciated

it's probably because it's a universal fit, which usually means it won't fit worth a damn on anything. I would suggest buying a catback kit, especially since a "performance muffler" will most likely not add performance to your car.

a friend of mine did this with his 99 grand am. he bought the muffler and when he went to put it on they told him his exhaust comes back at an angle, so his muffler would stick out the side of his car under his left side, and look like crap. the exhaust on the focus is like that because it come over the top of the rear suspension.

most universal parts are made with civics in mind in seems. and you can't have a civic without slapping a huge muffer on it.

HAHA Universal Mufflers... you're better off with the pipe. a stick on fart can is a good way to get laughed at. Sell it so some kid with a civic and use the money towards a good cat back

it seems like they cut the resonator off the back in and not the muffler....The muffler is in the middle of the car and the resonator is the end and sticks out a little bit. So what you're trying to do is to put 2 mufflers on 1 car? Try a cat-back (flex back) system instead....It'll save ya the heart ache and probally be cheaper, depending on where you go.
