K&N E-9289 vs. 57S-4000

I want to get a little extra perfromance out of my 2012 SEL Hatch. I don't want to go all the way to a Steeda intake or a K&N Typhoon becasue I can't justify the $$$$.

Is there any performance fain to the K&N 57S-4000 with the taller filter lid over the E-9289 filter?

Amazon sells the filter alone for $59 or the filter with the lid for $140

Has anyone tried both and can weight in on it. I tried searching and there is very litle information on here around the 57S-4000.

It's a good kit if your looking for it. As far as benefit goes you might see a slighty larger performance. I currently took the lid off and sold the kit for the roush kit. I have a spare lid if you want to just buy the filter

Stock lid of K&N lid?

Also, was there a siginificant gain going to the Roush kit over the K&N 57S?

Yes roush had the best gain because it's an open element filter design where as the k&n covers the filter up in the box. And yes it's the k&n box lid

Last time I checked, Advance Auto Parts had the K&N 57S-4000 for 139.95 with a $40 off $115 or more coupon that you could find at retailmenot or one of the other coupon sites. I am not sure if shipping was included.

I see the instructions say to remove the rubber end cap from the filter. Wonder if you can do that with the other one with the stock lid? Have to check that out tomorrow morning!
