What to do with my exhaust...opnions needed

I currently have a trubendz 2.5 exhaust on with a Borla muffler and magnaflow resonator. Maybe I'm just getting old but I'm not liking how loud it is anymore. Plus fitment is pretty lousy. Plus I don't find exhaust upgrades do a whole lot unless you're boosting.

So my options are:

1) Go back to the SVT exhaust (providing I find one) and stop spending money.

2) Keep current exhaust but make it fit a bit better, and find a way to fit in a Vibrant 12" resonator in that straight portion of the tubing at the end of the exhaust near the rear wheel. Vibrant also has a 14" oval "ultra quiet" resonator. Hopefully that would quiet it down.

What do you guys think?

Since you got what you got, I'd go w/ #2. So the trubendz system doesn't fit that good?

Mine fits pretty decent. I have the exact same set up but with no cat and ya it is a little loud. I had to make a small fitment adjustment because it was contacting the diffuser cut out on the back bumper. I also had to have the ends of the exhaust flared out a bit as it was to tight to slip together. Overall I am happy with the exhaust and has held up well. I get compliments on the exhaust every time I auto-x it.

Thanks for the replies so far...

If I stay with what I have, I'll have to get an exhaust shop weld in that resonator at the end. I might as well get them to install my 2.5" hi-Flo cat and 2.5" flex pipe a the same time. Although it may be more trouble than it's worth.

cbutch, mine was the same. The joint in the straight portion of the pipe was a bitch. It's a mess right now so I'll have to cut out that entire section and put in a new piece of pipe. The joint just above the rear subframe was fine though.

Which leads to my next question guys... if I used exhaust pipe sealant in that joint at the rear and secured it with a standard u-bolt, do you think I'll still be able to take that joint apart?? I'm thinking giving it a few whacks with a mallet to free up the exhaust sealant inside and then just pull the joint apart??

The exhaust should come free from exhaust sealant with a few whacks, that stuff is made to be able to seal yet take it apart later, or that's what it said on the tube I used on my exhaust.

Well if I found a way to make a full 2.5" exhaust sound almost as quiet as the stock exhaust, I'd go that way but it doesn't look good.

I HIGHLY Recomend buying the Vibrant Ultra Quier Resonator...

I was in the EXACT same scenario as you (you might be able to see my thread somewhere).... and what I ended up doing was this:

BEFORE (Ridiculously loud and drony!)
SVT Headers
ORP
2.5'' Flex Pipe
Magnaflow Resonator
Stock SVT Focus Muffler

AFTER: (Sounds GREAT, ZERO drone.... and still loud at WOT only)
SVT Headers
ORP
2.5'' Flex Pipe
Vibrant Ultra-Quiet Resonator
Borla ProXS 40358 Muffler

I plan on posting an exhaust vid soon..... I had a guy weld all new piping with those tid-bits in.... Sounds great!

If you plan on going that route... Summit Racing has the parts cheapest and offer free shipping over $99 :)

I bet if you tossed either a second resonator on there OR even a second muffler.... or kept the Magnaflow resonator you have it would be ultra quiet but still hear something at WOT....

Please post a vid Jon, i didnt know the exhaust could be quiet with an orp, unless that ultra quiet resonator is real restrictive like a cat.
