pump stops when filling car?

Hey, all. Got off work and went to fill my tank in my '13 Focus. I noticed that I can't fill the car without the pump stopping a hundred damn times. It'll work fine if I hold the handle about half way. This just recently started. Same station, different pumps and octane. Other than this issue, the car is perfect. She's pretty much brand new with 2,660 miles on her. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks!

Just push the handle all the way down, some of the pumps has short nozzles. It always happens to me. :D

Some pumps work a bit better than others.
I've had pumps at my local BP station be eager to shut off, I just have to pump slowly or ease it up to full speed. Normal "squeeze trigger fully because I'm 10 minutes late for work" doesn't work out so well.

They may have reset your gas station pumps to flow more fuel. It is a common problem. I always need to hold the gaspump handle about halfway anyway too. Seems to help if you try to 'center' the nozzle down in the opening. (wiggle it around some to 'find' where it is equally away from bumping into the side down the opening..
Otherwise yeah I have that problem all the time. It is because the pump can push more fuel than your tank can swollow in real time ...I would guess.

well I had this problem recently too. Tank has about ~40 miles left. I started pumping. Went and sat in the car, and the gas tank stopped at about $15. Come to find out the pump wasn't in the tank all the way. So it fills up to about $29.38, and then it stops again. Being OCD, I had to fill it up all the way to $30 to make it even, and then I notice gas leaking from under the tank. Go and start the car, and the tank isn't even full, yet when I was trying to pump, it kept stopping as if the tank was full. Should I be alarmed?

This^^^ as what i've said. You need to push the nozzle all the way down coz some pumps are short.

Clogged vent tube. It happened to me and that was the culprit. Car was less than 6 months old when it happened.
