Pin Stripe removal.

Has anyone taken their pin stripes off their Focus. I'm thinking about taking mine off. I saw an Ingot Silver Metallic Focus like mine and it looked better imo. So if I take them off what would be the best method? Heat gun and a plastic scraper?

Mild heat (hair dryer) and NO SCRAPER!!!! once you heat it up they will peel right off.

+1 for the heat, be careful

have a soft scraper handy though, like a used giftcard, sand one edge a little for a better edge. clean it up with a solvent, I've never gotten any "trick" to get sticky stuff off after to work so I'll keep using acetone on a rag. Let it start to evap from the rag then rub and wipe clean after to keep the paint from getting soft.

Most dealers in my area put this $5 abomination on the cars as they come off the truck and charge you $300 for it. It's just another way to increase their margins. It's like dealer tint and any sort of "protection package." I had the guys that put my 3M bra on take the stripes off. Much cleaner looking now.

Thanks for the fast responses. Those pin stripes are awful, and not my thing.

Sorry I didn't take any before pictures. They were only 3/16" black vinyl stripes applied on top of the paint. I didn't need any type of heat, I just parked it in the sunlight for about an hour. Those little vinyl stripes came right off. I then used Prestone windshield washer fluid to remove any traces of adhesive residue. Now it looks better IMO.

I took them off my Escape, but I haven't decided if I am going to pull them off my Focus.
