Thanks Ford security. Car was broken into

The factory security system prevented a theft early this morning. I was awoken to the sound of the horn and walked out to an open door. Nothing was taken and no damage. My concern....how did they get in? The doors and locks are fine. Can Ford re-program the FOB lock codes?

It was probably jimmied. Wouldn't stop them from opening the door, but the alarm was active so you got the alert to the intrusion.

I couldn't see any evidence of tampering around the window but who knows. Are these cars easy to break into electronically?

It is very easy to put a foam wedge in between the door and body and then inflate an air bag and stick a rod in and unlock the car. I do it a lot when we lock keys in the cars here at the dealership.

How expensive are the tools to do this? I would much rather pay a little money upfront than have to pay for AAA or a Lock Smith to come unlock my door. There are probably 2 or 3 times a year I know someone who locks their keys in their car and if I could save them that money I would gladly do it.

Back on the fox body mustang there was a way to block this from happening. Is there a way to physically prevent this from removing something in the door?

this is what the locksmith did when I left my keys inside... the least invasive method

Sounds like the security system was effective!

I for one would be glad they intruded that method (or similar) than a brick through the window...

I wish I had the 2nd amendment and Castle law up here. Not that it would have helped in this situation, but had I caught the bastard I'd have had a field day. In Canada, crime is a protected rite.

We have the Castle Law here in Missouri. He would have either had to have been in your home, or you would've have had to have been in your car (in other words, you being in your home but him breaking into your car outside your home wouldn't be part of the castle law; but if you were in the car and he tried to break in...), with some sort of threat (ANY threat). If you walked out with a gun and he ran, even down here in 'Merica, you better keep the gun to yourself!

Now if he came towards you, even a step, at that point...
