Life with a 2012 Ford Focus at 100,000 miles

Hello Fellow Fanatics,

I purchased my 2012 Ford Focus SEL in Candy in April 2011.

She now has 161,000 kms of mixed highway and country road commuting on the original brakes but on the 2nd set of tires.

I initially experienced a thermostat failure that was fixed under warranty.

My only other dealer visit was to correct the grommet recall for the windshield wiper motor and tranny program update.

The tranny judder remains a little rough in the one-two upshift but I've learned to accept it.

I have downloaded the Sync updates as they became available.

Oil was changed every 8000 km with Castrol Syntec 5W20 since new.

This car has been exceptional in reliability and fuel economy, averaging 40 MPG since new. No rattles, creaks or any other evidence of the high mileage.

I have replaced the driver's door weather stripping twice and should be replaced again. Tall people will rub the B piller when entering the car causing the strip to tear.

I replaced the under engine fiber cover as it delaminated into nothingness due continued exposure to water and salt.

The last item, I expect a lot of you will experience is the hatch release(trunk is same) The LED licence plate light is incorporated into the pressure sensitive
handle.

When yours goes.. you will find the Czech made sealed unit is not well sealed and will allow moisture to enter and corrode the area where the LED attaches to the board.

I will continue to update you as the miles continue to get packed on.

LONG LIVE FORD!

Take care of a car and it will take care of you.

Glad the Focus is still going strong! :)
