Please be very careful. Research the Acadia we have one we hate ('08). Will trade as soon as we can. They leak, eat brakes, faulty timing chains fail early, headlight recall. Check the forums. We have had all the typical problems. My wife's aunt has a 2010 Buick version-same issues.

The 3.5 ecoboost in the explorer and flex will run with the st despite the extra weight on them.

Sounds like a MK3 Focus with an Automatic transmission....:)

Every vehicle has it's problems. With new platforms brought to market in months instead of years, I honestly can't believe that more details are not missed in the process.

Thanks for the heads up though.

We drove an Explorer last night.....not for us....We liked the Flex, but $50k is a big of change for a new one with the EcoBoost. Scouring Autotrader and Craigslist now.

I have a 12 SEL (wifes car) with 32k miles and a 13 ST1 with 16k miles. The sticker price difference between the two was about $500 with the ST being higher.

The SEL has the dual zone heat, heated seats, heated mirrors and ambient lighting that the ST doesn't have. Both cars have the basic Sync system and one touch on all windows.

The dual zone heat is nice because my wife is always cold and this lets her set her side as she pleases without roasting me out. I do not like heated seats even in sub zero weather and never used it in the several cars I have owned that had them, its for my wife. I do miss the heated mirrors in the winter with the ST.

Both cars have sun roofs which we both enjoy. They both have the same seats (different fabric) which are the sport seats in the SE.

As far as normal driving is concerned the ST is quieter going down the road than the SEL. I attribute that to the more aggressive tread on the SEL all season tires. They are equally comfortable but the stiffer suspension on the ST is noticeable on rough roads. Its not bad just more noticeable.

The SEL averages 33-35 mpg on my wifes 18 mile suburban commute and 38-39 on the hiway with a best of 43. The ST averages 30-32mpg on my 48 mile suburban commute and 32-34 on the hiway with a best of 34.7.

Driving enjoyment the ST has it all over the SEL, effortless power, great brakes and razor sharp handling. I wouldn't own a Focus as a daily driver if there wasn't an ST. I have always had performance cars and have driven turbo 4cyl compacts continuously since 1985 for my daily drivers.

Gotta tell ya.....it's a tough row to hoe here.....Pretty new silver ST1 sitting in the parking lot at class tonight. Already has the windows tinted, and it has the sunroof.

Have to keep in mind the old saying........"if mamma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!"
