Whirring / Whizzing noise

I'm getting a whirring / whizzing noise in my 2001 Focus. It coincides with vehicle RPMs. I can be driving and the sound will rise and fall with the RPMs, or I can be in park and rev the engine and sound will do the same. Does anyone have an idea about what this might be?

Mine just started doing that recently!! That must be the one, though I had suspected my tensioner. I'ma check em tomorrow, n I'll zone in on that one n listen extra! ;) Thank you for the tip from experience! I'll post what mine ended up being.

Lol yeah I learned from a variety of clever fellas in the automotive world. That is one of my favs. One I learned here on FF was to use a 2~ish foot long hose to fill my tranny up with. Every time I hear of something like that, I of course think: "duh! why didn't I think of that?!", then I burn that trick into my memory, repeat. :p
