Engine cut out when changing gear automatic

Hello,

I have
2003
Ford Focus wagon SE
2L SPI engine
Automatic transmission

I am having an issue with the engine cutting out when i change between gears. The car runs fine in D, gears change fine, idles fine (maybe a little bit lumpy), engages into gear fine.

If I change from D to N, R, P (or any other combination) the engine cuts out, it doesn't stutter like it would if i stalled just cuts out. This doesn't happen every time maybe 3/5, there are no error lights or codes.

I recently had an issue where the fuel cap light was coming on followed by the engine management light (vapour leak error code), I changed the fuel cap and I haven't seen this again.
