Rattiling sound on start up

My 2002 SVT with 25,000 miles (bought mid summer 2013) makes a loud rattle when started when cold. Seems to be coming from the left (Driver's) side, saw some other threads that said it seems to be normal? But is there any issues to be concerned about?

Any help would be great, still not sure about why the car had so few miles when I bought it but it seems to be 1 issue after another. Had to replace clutch after I had it for 2 months ~ 1500 miles.

based on the low mileage it most likely sat without being driven for a very long time so that explains having multiple issues after one another. As for the rattle, does it only happen when you start it and then that's it? Or does it seem to happen only at low RPM's?

It might be "normal" if it's an exhaust shield. In that case, you might be able to replicate the problem at will, and then find the rattle.

Funny, I just dealt with this issue after replacing the clutch. A tin rattle drove me crazy but I found out one nut that secures the rear heat shield behind the engine was loose. I tightened it and the noise went away. Also, I previously found the front header shield loose at the bottom. There are 2 small bold that we're no longer securing the shield because the holes eroded away. I used bigger flat washers and it works fine. Depending on the type of noise, it may also be caused by a bad trans mount. Check the rubber on the top and bottom trans mounts and if it's bad, replace both. Good luck.
