rattle noise when acceleration

Just bought this 2013 Focus Titanium yesterday, the car already had 100 miles and it's now 120 miles. i were on ramp to freeway slowly and all of sudden heard the rattle noise coming from bottom of the car. had no choice but continued on and existed the next street. got on a small street and drove slowly, the rattle noise is there every time i accelerates.

i got online and google rattle noise on 2013 focus and to my surprise, there are quite a few people with similar problem. i cannot believe what i've read. i don't understand why they still sell this vehicle if some many are complaint of the same problem

i have not taken the car back to the dealer yet but already see problem ahead trying to figure out what the problem is and how they will fix this.

i don't know where the noise comes from yet and if you have similar problem, please advise what i should tell the dealer when i make the complaint. frankly i wish i could return it.

thanks

If the new Focus' are anything like the older ones it might be the heat shields that run along the exhaust and protect the gas tank. I just can't picture that coming loose this soon but let us know.

rattle on acceleration used to mean you were running too much ignition timing or too low of an octane rating for fuel

With today's knock sensors and computer control, it shouldn't be an issue, unless the knock sensor is broken.

I would try premium gas for a 1/2 tank just for personal troubleshooting
If it's knocking, you are beating it to death every time you roll onto the throttle

Isn't this the transmission noise at low revs?

If its an automatic it has a dual clutch automated manual..same concept as a ferrari or any paddle shift manual transmission. The clutches are dry, not like a traditional wet clutch you would engage/disengage with your foot. The noise.you are hearing (if it.isnt totally completely unbearably loud) is the clutches grabbing the gears. Mine does it going from 2-3 & 3-4 and i can feel it. I compare it to driving up a gravel drive way, or hitting a patch of gravel in the road. If you contact your dealer explain there is a rattle or knock during acceleration and be sure to tell them about any time this happens and at what speeds. This is my personal experience with the type of noise youve explained. There.isnt any damage or anything out of the norm, just annoying. Let us know.how this turns out!

Aww look guys, another DCT complaint. Sorry champ, tranny rattles. Buck up
Or sell the car back. It will never get better. I've had mine for 50 thousand miles and it drives excellent, just makes noise.

Yes, unfortunately. If you have an automatic and the rattle sounds like it is coming from around the driver side wheel well, it is the tranny. As stated, it won't improve in any meaningful way over time. In fact, it will likely get worse and hot weather will make it much more pronounced. Sorry.

No car manufactured in the First World should make loud grinding noises in normal operation like a Third-world crapheap.

It's embarrassing to drive something this obnoxious and be told it's normal. Pathetic that Ford can't muster the engineering skill to do something about it.
