Quick Valve Cover Question

My son got a metal valve cover for his zetec, had it polished and it looks great.
We cannot figure out why we cant find a new gasket for it though.
He claims it came off a 98 Contour, yet the gasket is not right.
What other year Contour had the metal zetec valve cover???

Do you have a picture of it you can post? The Contour valve cover is the most common one. There were other manufactures that made them aftermarket. Do you know where he got it?

Based off the part # 928M-6583-CD I get the following on FocalJet.

http://forums.focaljet.com/autonatio...-hardware.html

Looks like the early contours valve cover is now hard to come across. I have a contour valve cover but its a part # 928M-6582-CC. So must have another year.

On rockauto.com looks like they have your gasket:
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...847&cc=1106491

But this is for a 1997. Looks like he got the year wrong...

Edit:

Not sure if this will help, but this is my thread I had to figure out my gasket. http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=259181

The best thing to do at this point is to take it into the auto parts store and try to match it up. The 2000 Foci Zetec's had a magnesium valve cover for most or, part of that model year IIRC

That is a cool looking cover BTW

Man they have made plenty of mods to zetec valve covers. probably 5-6 different ones out there.

Certainly not '98 or later Contour, they all used VCT, no hole in that cover for it.

huh? I have a 2000 with a plastic cover.. manufactured 3/2000 in mexico early shift nob and manifold. Unless it was kind of a plant dependent thing I'd say it was only a very short time...

But yeah I agree, awesome cover!
