I would suggest that you do what makes you happy. What are you looking for? Looks or Racecar parts?

Could always start with a snorkel delete + resonator delete.
http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=297795
Then buy yourself a K&N filter. Would save you more than what a CAI would cost you.

Well:

These are my personal opinions mixed with mostly facts...

As far as going fast you have intake exhaust and tune. I won't get into tuning options because there are a million threads about it. Search Injected engineering and sct.

Exhausts also have a devoted thread in the performance section if the mk3 section.

Intakes:

I think the k&n delivers the most cold air, however the MAF housing is known to crack.

Steeda has by far the best aluminum MAF housing and seals nicely to the hood. I have newmissioned mine and it's really nice.

Injen is a nice SRAI and would be better with a heat shield.

I don't have any experience with the others

I'm talking about the intake resonator underneath the stock airbox.

I've never used a dry filter, but fswerks is a solid company. I would equate its cold air capabilities to steeda's CAI. Same design, different filter.
