Question Getrag - Shifting into Reverse difficult

got a 2002 SVT Focus..... obviously with the Getrag Transmission.... and right now its extremely difficult to get into reverse! I have to SLAM the dam shifter left alot harder than I would've normally to get it in and even then it takes a few tries.

any ideas? I've recently changed my trans fluid which makes shifting 1-6 nice.... but R is such a hassle! Any ideas/thoughts?

I've also recently replaced my Clutch Master cylinder. I will say... I COULD bleed it a little more, I feel like theres a tiny bit of play in the pedal (not much but its not INSTANTANEOUS feedback)

Could that be part of the issue? It's not separating the Clutch/Flywheel enough? I just want my SVT to shift buttery smooth in all gears

under the air box pop out the orange clip on the shifter cable go inside the car move all the way from side to side. Now get out have someone else hold the shifter smack bang in the middle while they are holding it center you go pop that orange clip back down.

Now test all the gears see if they are easy to get into, no need to start the car just cycle through all the gears, if any gear is hard or rough repeat the procedure until you have it just right took me 3 times to get it exact.

I will definitely try that! I know about that clip thingy on the shift linkage where it attaches to the transmission..... is it just tension on the shift linkage or what??

There is a tiny nylon block that rides in a groove on the linkage that is resposible for your problems... it is now missing, and that allows too much play to get into reverse. However, it is possible to either buy one, or have one made... there is a guy from Canada who posts a lot on FJ and he makes them for sale through steve@tasca.

I have the same problem. I just rebuilt my engine, replaced the clutch and cv axles. At 3am, when I went to take it for a test drive, I couldn't get it into reverse. It also seems to be hard shifting into any gear.

Does anyone happen to have a pic of said block and its location. I would like to check this on mine where as I to have trouble with reverse.
