I believe there is a way, check the how-to section. Only thing is you need 2 keys to program a new one.

I found some stuff online, but it's for different engines. Don't know of there is a difference. My mumz has the 2.0L dual overhead can zetec engine. Its the original remote key with a new battery. This happened when I changed the car battery

Ahh! That gives me hope. I'll check it. She only has one key (original). She just wants that to work like it did prior the car battery change.

See this tread and post#9.
http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=158101

Instructions for Remote FOB programming are/should be in car Owners Manual.

When you buy a new (second) key, do not get a regular key, get a key FOB. (whoops, CORRECTION -> get a PATS Key. See post #9)

Whoops. I meant to say, make sure you get a PATS key, one that has a transponder chip inside it.

I did not read this thread correctly (at first). After re-reading, I see you want to re-program your REMOTE (FOB), Based on what I saw in that other thread (link is above) you can do this without a second key.

If however, you want to add a new car ignition key, you must purchase a PATS key... and you have to have TWO original PATS keys that came with the car. For more info on this, please do a search for "PATS key programming". If you currently only have one PATS key, you might need a Ford dealership for help on getting a second functional PATS key.

Is it the remote or the key.... to program the remote turn the key on and off some could be 4 times some 6 or 7. when you here the door locks clicking you will know. Leave the ignition on and press a key on the remote. Make sure your doors are all closed
