help with aftermarket radio wiring adapter

Im looking to install my kenwood nav in my 02 focus. Ordered a wiring adatper from amazon that says fits my car - Metra 70-1770 (85-04 Ford)... but it DOES NOT FIT..... My factory in dash CD player has 3 plugs. 2 Long flat ones and a square plug with a single wire coming from it (whats this plug and wire for?)

The 2 adapters that came in the Metra kit look kind of like what i need but neither work and plug in.

Does anyone have a part number or link to a wire adapter kit that will work???

thanks

Is the 1 plug with 1 wire yellow? From what I remember that's your speed Sensor wire that would automatically turn the radio volume up when your were driving don't worry u won't be using that. The only euro adaptor I can remember with those cars was the antenna adaptor. As for your other 2 harnesses they will fit. I remember doing the first install on my 2 focus when it was new I didn't think that harness would work either just match the male and female plugs with the very little notches in the bottom and top.

thanks for the reply-

this is the kit that i bought - Metra 70-1770

the grey and black plugs are both the same size, however, the factory harness with the yellow and black plug are not the same size.... the yellow seems to be the same size as the grey (and black), but the factory black plug is NOT the same size (its smaller)-

the ford generic harness is fine. match harness that plug into your radio harness and then simply don't use the extra. As I recall when I swaped around my radios the other day the plugs fit fine, but they don't match up like you would expect. I literally used the same ford harness on 2 different generation escorts then 2 first gen focus so if you have US focus mk1 with a non audiophile package it should plug and play without problem and even if you do it will still mostly work radio/speaker wise. However you might need an antennae adapter.

I will take a picture later tonight if you still can't figure it out.

edit: actually aside from the cobbled together connections this is what your harness should look like when its done. one set is for the speakers and one set is to power the radio. Figure out which plugs from the back of the radio fit into the harness. I want to say the smaller black one your freaking out about is actually one of them and one of the bigger ones is a "leftover" that no ford owner has ever cared where those wires actually go after their new deck starts working.

you have the correct harness. grey plug to black and black to yellow. one of them will fit on centered the other is longer, but will work, just line up the release tab on it. third plug isn't needed.
