Intake manifold question

Hello, new to the forum and the focus.

I have a 2001 zx3 that I got as a "mechanic's special" with a vacuum leak at the intake manifold. I know nothing about the history of the car. Did the poor man's smoke test with the cigar and hose. I have smoke coming from a small hole that is under the fuel line port of the manifold. Does anyone know what this hole is? Or is it suppose to even be there. My manual shows nothing and say nothing about it.

Thanks in advance

Okay with the engine running, I can plug the hole with my finger and the idle smooth's out instantly. Not sure if it is suppose to be there. Needless to say, I'll be shopping for a replacement manifold tomorrow.

Got a picture of what your talking about , why not plug the hole vs changing the intake manifold ?

I believe the fuel line port is actually the EGR tube and the hole you are looking at is the hose for the brake booster line. I know that it is easily pulled out when the starter is replaced. Is that what you mean?

So where is the hole?

Is it on the left hand side by the pulleys? or is it on the right hand side by the air box?

This is a 2000 intake so will look a little different than what you have installed.

there are no ports on the top of the intake manifold.

Once again she sown picture above is a 2000 intake which is a 1 piece vs the multi-piece you have. Does the "hole" come from a seam?

Thanks for the reply's...
Looking at the pic above, The large nipple just below the TB flange, there is a small hole right below that nipple. Looking at it again, it appears to be melted. The hole is not by design. Need to figure out why it melted. Never owned a car with a plastic manifold so this is all new to me. Can't get a camera/phone in there to get a pic, Will post one once I get the manifold down.

I have a factory 2001 intake manifold available. PM me and we can discuss details if you cant find one local.

Might be able to just scuff up the plastic and use some putty JB weld to fix it. a cheap $5 fix.

Anyone know what a cause might be to melt?
Going to replace. A patch would be on my mind every time I drove it.

If ur going to replace it.. Maybe worth finding a 2000 Intake manifold... If ur gonna be taking it off anyways u might as well replace with a slightly better flowing and more solid manifold... Just my two cents..
P.s if u need pics and info on what to look for for a 2000 IM feel free to message me with your email and I can send pics and info
