No its okay. Despite the electronics, the cars are very similar mechanically

I think it's a stretch to say "most," I don't entirely see the point though.

If I meet a vehicle and I see the foglights on I feel confident that they have dimmed their lights for me, which inspires confidence.

Late reply, but I do agree with your comment Blackcat.

The purpose for wanting to do this was to save the HIDs from possibly burning out say when I flash someone

Any way to post the wiring diagrams of the sections in question? I wanna see where the computer gets the signal/12V/ground to know when the fogs are on. Purely to maybe help you out or educational purposes (give my brain exercise). Not doing the mod myself.

Lemme pull the schematics. I'll post it shortly.

Headlamps

Fog Lamps

Let me know if there's another section that you might need.

Tricky, because of the logic part. I'm reading via phone...will take a look at work tomorrow. Anyone else please chime in.

edit: Took another look. It seems the logic part of the Smart Junction block wants to see what's going on with everything and controls the relays that are internal to the SJB, which I don't know what it looks like apart. It looks at switch positions and then chooses what can stay on. Part of this may be related also to the shutting off of loads if left on with ignition off, I don't know. So if you trick it not to know that the fogs or high beams are on, it'll never turn them on when you want them. Kind of like a catch-22.

Best solutions I can come up with (disclaimer - no guarantees - use at own risk, you know the saying - I'm alright with schematics but am pushing my know how, not knowing exactly how the logic is programmed).

The first pic would be for someone who is willing and is good at soldering, assuming the junction box inside is just a circuit board with components. If I'm wrong and it's more user friendly, I would unpin components and use wiring to be able to go back to stock. Now this would maybe defeat the computer being able to shut the fog lamps off if left on with ign. off. The computer would know the fog switch is on (see pin 49 on SJB), but it wouldn't be able to turn off the fog lamp relay, because of the jumper wire shown. So caution is advised.

Picture 2 is an external relay added on the outside of the SJB. You would power the relay with a wire the same gauge as the power wire for the fogs, and make sure to use a source that only works with ign. on to avoid leaving the fogs on after you turn ign. off. Not shown because it's common sense, but crucial - you would want to fuse protect this power wire. You would then connect the coil of the relay into the fog switch to turn the relay on.

If anyone sees errors or can improve, post up. Personally, I don't think it's worth the risk or hassle if something messes up, but that's me.

Yeah, I didn't think it would be easy with the logic there. But appreciate the extra brain power!
