2000-2007 leg room vs 2008+

Hey guys first post here! I'd like to thankyou all for all the info that I've allready received for so many repairs.
Anyways. So I have access to 3 foci a 02, 06(mine) and an 09, and I was wondering if anyone knew how the 08 and later cars gained leg room? Different seat/track? Or is it more like redesigned floor pan/firewall area? My seats shot and I'm going to get a new one and I wasn't sure if I could swap out for a newer seat and gain some leg room?!
Thanks in advance.
John

I just assumed they increased the interior dimensions; new cars are always larger. Only way you would gain room by swapping seats were if the new seats were physically smaller. At least that what makes sense to me.
