Talking Ford Newbie

Hey yall Im a Ford Virgin, i have recently purchased a 2007 F150 5.4L and a 2013 Focus Tit HB which i LOVE..! i am really diggin them so far, but as with every car I can tell there is Much more power to be had.. I am looking to do so performance mods for sure.. I have already done the snorkel delete and have ordered my K&N .. also I plan on a "Lunch box delete" but I was wondering why the ST has so much more power. I was thinking there should be some sort or ST Tune for the other models. any info would be greatly appreciated as I said I am new to Ford.

Short answer; TURBO! That is the difference in power, among other things. No turbo on any other model.

Two things to note. Ford calls the ST motor the ecoboost. It is a similar variation to one of the motors in the new Escape. So they use that marketing term a lot in place of just saying it is turbo'd. Also, I wouldn't say that it is JUST the turbo that makes it an ST, there are a lot of other things that are changed or upgraded on the st compared to the lower models.

As for Tuning, there are really two ways to go, Injected or SCT. Injected has a "canned tune" and STC is the "custom tune" route. You really need to do some reading through some of the tuning treads, and don't be afraid to use the search function, it works wonders.
